Unfriended Muzzle Hounds
Team Unfriended won a very close and hard-fought game 6-5 versus the Greyhounds on Sunday night at the MSA. Sean Yemen had a hat-trick (including a shortie) in the contest and some last-minute theatrics by Ryan Yemen and Joey Blom put the game away for Big Blue.
The Greyhounds got on the board first at 15:18 of the first when Kim Peters came streaking down the left wing and threw a desperation shot from the goal-line that just squeaked past Blue netminder Seamus Moody on the blocker-side. Unfriended's Sean Yemen answered back at 5:47 with a quick wrister that beat White's goalie Tina Kirkaldy. Blue went up one at 3:16 when forward Rob Lovaglio fed the point and D-man Dalton Ford threw a slow, flat shot towards the goal that somehow snuck past Kirkaldy through the 5-hole. The Hounds evened the score 30 seconds later when Kenny Lohr ripped a shot that hit Moody in the chest and deflected in. Sean Yemen put TU back on top 3-2 with a SHG that blew past Kirkaldy with just 5 seconds remaining in the first. SOGs in the first period were 10-6 in favor of Team Unfriended.
White's Eric Sawyer scored a PP goal early in the second period to knot the game at 3. Two minutes later, Blue's Dean Bender took a pass from Ford and fired a shot through traffic that beat Kirkaldy longside. At 7:11, Sean Yemen got his third goal of the night off a shot from blueliner Tony DiOrio. The third period ended 5-3 in favor of Unfriended. Shots were 23-12 in favor of TU.
The Hounds continued to pressure TU in their own zone and managed to generate just as many SOGs on Moody in the third (12) than they did in the first two periods combined. At 9:52, Bryan Yeago took advantage of some sloppy defensive play deep in the Blue zone and wristed a shot through traffic that snuck past Moody to close the gap. At 5:56, White's Lohr came streaking in and, despite the puck being knocked off his stick in the crease, he managed to get a second whack at it that caused the puck to bounce, roll up Moody's arm, over his shoulder, and in. The Hounds had tied the game 5-5.
As the final minute of play was winding down and OT was looming, Big Blue's grind line rushed the puck into the OZ. With pleads of "SHOOT!" coming from the TU bench, Ryan Yemen drifted left through the Hounds' slot, drew two defenders, and dished a beautiful behind-the-back, no-looky pass to a criss-crossing Joey Blom, who wristed it high past Kirkaldy on the glove-side with 54 seconds remaining. White pulled their goalie and skated 5 for the remainder, but time ran out and the game ended 6-5. TU went 0/1 on the PP, 4/5 on the PK and outshot White 32-24 in the contest.

Holes Shut Out
Unfriended goalie Seamus "Moose" Moody arrives at the rink approximately one hour before each game. He cranks up the tunes, stretches, works with an agility ball, and mentally prepares for each game by envisioning shooters and making saves. On Thursday night, that preparation, along with some stingy Unfriended team defense and back-checking, earned TU their first shutout of the season, with Team Unfriended defeating the Ice Holes 11-0 on Thursday night at the MSA. "Mean" Dean Bender had another multi-point night, scoring 5 goals, including the game-winner.
Bender got the scoreboard primed at 17:03 with a wicked wrister that beat Ice Hole goalie Joe Renfro high, glove-side. Joey Blom scored next off a feed from Maggie Cearley at 7:46. The first period ended 2-0 with Unfriended out-shooting their opponent 7-6.
Blue forward Sean "Antz" Yemen notched a tally at 16:51 of the second. His goal was unassisted. Bender scored his second of the night 10 minutes later with assists going to Maggie and Mary Cearley. At 3:38, Ryan Yemen wristed a shot through crease traffic that beat Renfro to put the Blue up by half a dozen. Mean Dean got the hattie three seconds later, unassisted. SOGs in the second were 21-3 in favor of Unfriended.
In the third, TU picked up where they left off. Using the points on offense and good perimeter movement, they put relentless pressure on Green and rained shots on Renfro from all lanes in the OZ. Blom scored his second goal of the night at 15:31. Bender lit the lamp at 14:47 for his fourth of the contest. Defenseman Jeremy "The Jookster" Webb got into the action when he rushed the puck to the net and beat Renfro with a pretty backhand shot that put Blue up 9-0. Webb was assisted by Maggie Cearley. Forward Nick Karr scored at the 7-minute mark and Deaner put the baby to bed with his 5th tally of the night at 5:37. TU puck control and stifling defense kept Green's shots to just 17 for the contest, while generating 41 SOGs. TU was perfect on the PK, going 3/3, but were 0/1 on the PP.

TU Overcomes 2-goal Deficit and Wins in Shootout
Down 2-0 going into the third period, Team Unfriended orchestrated a come-from-behind SO win over the Greyhounds 3-2 on Sunday at the MSA. Seamus "Moose" Moody played a stellar game in net for the Blue (21 saves, .913 SV%) and Joey "Bar Down" Blom roofed the shootout winner.
The Greyhounds got on the board early in the first when Kenny Lohr snuck a shot past a sprawling Moody at 15:35. TU outshot the Hounds 11-6 in the first.
The second period saw tough defensive play and solid goaltending by both teams. With 40 seconds remaining in the second period, White's Bryan Yeago raced down the left-side wing and wristed a laser that went top-shelf on Moody. The Hounds outshot TU in the frame 8-6.
Despite having to kill off four penalties in the third period, Team Unfriended managed to keep much of play in the Hounds' zone and put quality shots on White's goalie Tina Kirkaldy. On a faceoff at 7:35, Dean Bender won the draw to linemate Nick Karr who wristed a quick shot through traffic that beat Kirkaldy on the shortside. Two minutes later, Rob Lovaglio took a dish from defenseman Maggie Cearley, skated end-to-end, and blasted a shot that beat Kirkaldy high on the glove-side to tie the game. Regulation time ended 2-2 with TU outshooting their opponent 13-6 in the third.
The teams skated a fruitless 3-minute OT period and went to a shootout. TU's Moose stoned the first Hound shooter. Joey Blom ripped a wicked shot that beat Kirkaldy high on the glove-side and went bar down. Moose denied the other two White attempts to seal the W for Team Unfriended.

Bender was assisted by forward Nick "The Legend" Karr and blueliner Dalton "What period is this?" Ford on the play. Less than one minute later, Blue defenseman Jeremy "Spidey" Webb wristed a shot from the point that sailed 5-hole on Williamson to put Unfriended up 3-0. Webb was assisted by defensive partner Maggie "Magmo" Cearley and Karr. SG forward Jason Hallacher got the Grapes on the board at 6:04.
